The multimedia class on Tuesday morning in Semester 2, 2008 have been asked to write blog entries about Video and what it is.

The problems were set to be solved in small teams with individuals writing up their own solutions.

The questions they need to answer in their blog are shown below…

  • In this problem you are not allowed to use wikipedia or other Internet encyclopedias, but online dictionaries are allowed.
  • You have to find at least TWO web sites with information on each question and include web links to them in their blog entries.
  • Remember that all answers must be in your own words.
  • Copy and pasting from Wikipedia and other sources is not allowed.
  • You should reword each answer and put a link to the source of the information.
  • Most answers can be one or two sentences each.
  • You may copy tables from web pages but again make sure you put a link to the original site under the table.

Scenario

A client has walked into your small multimedia and graphics business and needs so help in converting some video that she has produced.

The lady, who is a teacher, has got about two hours of video recording of which one hour has been selected for use in the production.

She has done a draft edit using Microsoft Home Movie Maker, but is not happy with it.

The lady wants you to edit the production and create a DVD for her. The DVD needs titles and credits and acknowledgements for contributions from various sources.

The company currently does not have any video editiong software so you are to find two options for both PC and Mac for the company so they can complete the task.

You have been told by your manager that you need to have at leat one solution for the PC and one for the Mac. The solutions may be the same for both systems.

The lady also wants to broadcast the video to her students via the internet and so needs to be told the best format and size for the video when broadcast this way.

Again, the company needs to have a solution for the PC and the Mac.

The video is from a normal standard definition video camera (digital).

Write a short ‘report’ blog entry that gives the client the best options for the broadcast.
